  22.  SAN FRANCISCO, CA  - May 25, 1993; Completing its transition to a
  23.  software company, NeXT Computer, Inc. today announced key industry
  24.  partnerships and product milestones.  The announcements were made
  25.  at NeXTWORLD EXPO, held here at the Moscone Center, May 25-27.

  27.  Leading the list of partnership agreements, NeXT and
  28.  Hewlett-Packard Company have formed Object+Enterprise, a major
  29.  technology and marketing initiative chartered to bring NEXTSTEP,
  30.  NeXT's advanced object-oriented software, to the financial services
  31.  community.  Additionally, OEM distribution agreements were
  32.  announced with Digital Equipment Corp., Compaq Corporation and NCR
  33.  Corp., and VAR agreements with Abbott, Linotype and Comnetix.

  35.  In another move to further strengthen the company, industry leaders
  36.  Larry Ellison, president and CEO of Oracle Corp., and Dan Case,
  37.  president and co-CEO of Hambrecht & Quist, Incorporated will be
  38.  joining NeXT's Board of Directors.

  40.  NEXTSTEP for Intel processors, NeXT's object-oriented software for
  41.  Intel-486 and Pentium-based computers began shipping today,
  42.  worldwide, with several customers announcing large-volume
  43.  commitments.

  45.  "During the past five months, NeXT has built the infrastructure,
  46.  developed the partnerships and completed the software needed to
  47.  succeed as a software company," said Steven P. Jobs, chairman and
  48.  CEO of NeXT.  "Getting commitments for 25,000 units out of the gate
  49.  is an significant indication of the momentum building behind
  50.  NEXTSTEP."

  52.  HP and NeXT form Object+Enterprise

  54.  Hewlett-Packard Company and NeXT Computer, Inc. have launched the
  55.  Object+Enterprise, a technology and marketing initiative to
  56.  provide object-oriented technology in an enterprise-wide,
  57.  client-server environment.

  59.  Initially targeted toward the financial services industry, the goal
  60.  of Object+Enterprise is to deliver the first complete computing
  61.  solution that exploits the power of object orientation across
  62.  clients and servers.  Object+Enterprise will allow users to
  63.  develop the enterprise-wide applications they need to keep pace
  64.  with fast-changing business environments.

  66.  Under the terms of the agreement, HP and NeXT will combine the
  67.  forces of NEXTSTEP, NeXT's object-oriented software, with
  68.  Hewlett-Packard's spectrum of desktop and server computers-HP
  69.  Apollo 9000 Series 700 workstations, Intel-based Vectra PCs, and
  70.  Series 700 and 800 servers-with products available starting in
  71.  1993.

  73.  Leading PC Manufacturers and VARs support NEXTSTEP

  75.  Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq and NCR announced they will
  76.  offer NEXTSTEP for Intel processors pre-installed or bundled by
  77.  reseller organizations on certain models of their 486-based systems
  78.  and future product offerings based on Intel's Pentium
  79.  microprocessor.  They join Data General Corporation, Dell Computer
  80.  Corporation, EPSON America, Incorporated, Hewlett Packard Company,
  81.  NEC Technologies, Inc. and Siemens Nixdorf in providing system
  82.  support for NEXTSTEP.

  84.  Abbott Laboratories Diagnostics Division joins Linotype, Comnetix,
  85.  Systemhouse, Booz Allen & Hamilton, Pencom, and VideoNet in the
  86.  growing list of prominent NEXTSTEP VARs and System Integrators.
  87.  Abbott will purchase 6,000 copies of NEXTSTEP 3.1 for Intel
  88.  processors for its new lab analysis system aimed at the medical
  89.  diagnostic laboratory market.

  94.  software industry leaders to its Board of Directors:  Lawrence J.
  95.  Ellison, president and CEO of Oracle Corp., and Daniel H. Case III,

  109.  NEXTSTEP Developer, object-oriented software that runs on
  110.  industry-standard Intel 486- and Pentium-based PCs.  NEXTSTEP has
  111.  received customer and industry accolades for its technical
  112.  superiority and for speeding the development of custom
  113.  applications, offering five to ten times the productivity of other
  114.  platforms.

  116.  Contracts representing commitments in excess of 25,000 units have
  117.  been signed with:  Abbott Laboratories, McCaw Cellular
  118.  Communications, Chrysler Financial, Wiltel, Skyway Freight Systems,
  119.  Inc, Logibec, Continental Computers, Booz Allen & Hamilton,
  120.  PanCanadian, Sky Mall, Inc. and VideoNet.

  123.  manufacturers, as well as their VARs, system integrators and
  124.  resellers.  Users may also purchase shrink-wrapped copies of
  125.  NEXTSTEP through several value-added resellers, integrators,
  126.  software resellers, distributors.  Large corporate accounts can
  127.  purchase directly from NeXT.

  132.  client/server applications using NEXTSTEP's object-oriented

  135.  containing both the User and Developer versions of NEXTSTEP 3.1 for
  136.  Intel processors will be available for $299.

  160.  includes a demonstration application called Photo Album that allows
  161.  users to view high-quality images based on Kodak's Photo CD
  162.  standard.

  166.  compression application that allows users to store video on disk
  167.  and incorporate it into multimedia applications.  NEXTIME will be a
